Paul says "We had visited the Lake District many times, prior to our move from the South East, and it had struck us that there were few galleries offering space to more contemporarily styled artwork. We moved up in 1998 and took some time selecting the right place to establish Northern Lights. We eventually settled on Keswick and we’ve never had cause to regret it. We love it here!

We now exhibit the work of more than 80 artists and craftspeople, the great majority of whom live locally. Cumbria can genuinely claim to have strength in depth in many media and we are pleased to showcase some of the best quality work in the North of England. We have a continuing commitment to customers and artists to retain and build upon local talent.

We are pleased to offer a bespoke service for customers including help with commissions, delivery and payment options. We would like to think that our attention to achieving high levels of service has led to many of our customers making a special effort to drop in to Northern Lights regularly to keep up to date with the latest work on show, (that and visiting Kizzy, the gallery Fox Terrior, who has a bed under the counter!).
